Just got my first speeding ticket after about 2 months from my drivers’ license. I gotta admit that I did go 70mph on a 60mph zone. I live in Indiana. The police officer was travelling in the opposite direction and got me about 0.2 miles from the scene, when I was back at my house opening my door. =(
I gotta pay 0 and I will get 2 points on my drivers license.
A few things that I want too ask…
I live in Tippecanoe County. Is it worth it to use the Infraction Diversion Program? It will cost almost 0 but no points on my drivers license, which would contribute in buying insurance (right now using state farm)
Would it be better if I just pay the fines or should I make a deal with the prosecutor, begging for a higher fine with no points on my drivers license, or even fighting the ticket? (Yes, I did my research, you can fight it by contesting the radar gun’s calibration, highway geometry, cosine rule effects, etc)
Or should I just pay the ticket given to me on the due date? (Which is, as of right now, at the bottom of my list) Ticket is due on January 5
Hi! I would probably do the Infraction Diversion Program. I’m not sure how old you are…but rates for teenage drivers are SUPER high. If you’re on your parents’ policy they probably won’t be too happy with the rate. (It may not change now…maybe at policy renewal.)
If you’re on your parents’ policy I suggest asking them what they think.

Pay the ticket and don,t speed anymore. You know you was speeding so deal with it.I don,t mean to sound harsh but my husband drove semi for years and when he got a ticket he hired an attorney to try and get out of it.The only thing it really did was cost money and time,Id be done with it and consider it a lesson.Good luck.
If you pay it on time and in person, they’ll reduce your fine. Or if you decide to go to court for whatever reason, they might lower your fine or even change it to a non-moving violation in order to get you to drop your case and reduce the amount of people in court. Of course, that’s in Washington, but I’m fairly sure that would apply to most traffic courts.
I really don’t understand why this question has to be asked 50,000 times every single day.
IT’S JUST A FREAKING SPEEDING TICKET. Pay it and move on with your life.
the questions got to be ,if the copper was going in the opposite direction, why would he bother turning round, just because you were going 10mph over the limit?surely anyone with a brain would just reduce their speed slowly, when they saw an oncoming copper in the first place?,unless of course you were going faster than you say you were.somethings not right about this question, anyone else think so?
Pay the fine, accept the points. Do research on why traffic safety rules are in existence. Do all of those and you will be a better human person. Not such a bad thing!
