Is Global Work and Travel CO. a scam?
I was looking at MyCareer.com.au for jobs and i applied for a secretary job not realising it is in England and im in Australia. The next day i get a call from Global Work and Travel CO. saying i have the job and they are quoting me money between 00 to 00 to get there with travel and insurance. It sounds too good to be true. Ive done some research and some say it’s a scam and some don’t. Can someone help me please?

You applied for a secretary job on the internet and the next day you are offered the job without an interview. Congratulations you must have the best resume in the whole wide world. Let me guess they want you to wire the money to them and then they will send you your travel documents.
This is so fishy it is funny.
#1 it doesn’t cost $3500 t0 $6000 to get to England.
#2 No company is going to hire a secretary from out of the country (Unless you really do have the best resume in the whole wide world)
#3 Even if it isn’t a scam how long will it take to recoup that $3500-6000. Do you really want to take a job that is going to put you in the hole that much.
Global work and travel is a working holiday company. I spoke to them at the sydney adventure travel expo last year, and met some staff in person so i know theyre real people. They are similar to the company ‘overseas working holidays’ and ‘bunac’ who offer similar work and travel programs. i doubt they wouldve ‘offered you the job’ there and then, because you would still need to be interviewed by whoever was going to hire you, but the cost they told you about wouldve been your airfare, travel insurance and the cost of their program which is like an arrival package or something. theyre pretty well known, ive seen or heard about them a few times now. i was about to sign up with them last december for the ski season, but a personal problem made me delay. may try for this xmas.
YES! Stay away from them! They have been investigated by the ACCC a number of times and Today Tonight have reported on them. There are hundreds of young aussies stuck in the UK and Canada with no job, no accommodation and no money! BEWARE GLOBAL WORK AND TRAVEL COMPANY! My daughter was ripped off and is now over $8000 in debt with NOTHING to show for it!
