All you have to do is pay the fine for the ticket and Wisconsin will not do anything to your record in IL. They will keep track of you in WI however, and your insurance will never find out about it if you keep it on the down low.

Don’t bother going to court there either, The will not allow out state offenders any leniency. If you go, it’s a waste of time, and more fines, for court costs.

Go to court, tell the judge you are sorry and ask for probation. He will fine you and charge you court costs. He will probably require you to take a defensive driving course, as a condition of probation, if he grants it. Then you have to keep your driving record clean for a specific period of time, (1 yr or 18 months, usually) and the ticket will not show up on your record unless you get another one during that probation period.

You could fight the citation. Pray the the officer doesnt’ show up for court and it would get dismissed. If the officer does show up, try to negotiate with him to a lesser offense.
