I have a couple questions I hope you can help me with. I live in TN and was looking to invest in property in Rochester. I was in contact with Metro Development Group for over a year and one of the company’s workers, Shawn Quail, called one day and offered to sell me a property that he told me he owned. To make a long story short, he told me he needed k up front, k for tax/insurance and k down, so I could finance the rest (K). I did the paperwork for a land transfer, I am not a real estate expert, but thought I had obtained the property. I received a phone call 3 weeks later from the property owner, asking where the 0.00 dollars to complete the land transfer was. I contact Shawn Quail and uncovered that he did not own the property, and the property was for sale for K. Shawn lied about owning the property and because he never paid the owner, The property owner had no obligation to have Metro Development Group try to sell his property and he went with another property. In the meantime, I am left with a loss of k and now Shawn Quail with Metro Development Group, who admitted he was wrong and basically tried to scam me, will not return calls or emails.
I have saved all emails between me and Shawn that can validate all information I am relating. even an email Shawn wrote stating he would pay me back the money he scammed me if I would not seek legal action. It has been over 2 months and Shawn Quail has attempted to just turn a shoulder and forget about everything with me.
I am not willing to travel to Rochester and know hiring a lawyer will cost upwards of k. I would like to know if there is anyway I could have a lawyer file in small claims court for me?
If not, could I have a lawyer file a criminal charge against Shawn for fraud/theft?
I would like my money back and would like to press charges against Shawn and would like to know the best/most cost efficient way to go about doing so.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Contact your local police and they will coordinate with law enforcement in rochester or even the FBI it would not cost you anything and if convicted the court could order restitution, otherwise hiring a lawyer fo 2,000 may get your money back.~
