insurance is never included in the rental rate. full coverage could run about $25 a day.

I have rented from Alamo at Orlando International Airport and NO, insurance is not included, there is a daily charge for it. They might ask you if you’d like to purchase some sort of coverage, but I’ve never had anyone actually push it on me or try to persuade me to get it.

There is a free option for insurance on your rental car, however. I just used my personal car insurance. All I had to do was show them a valid insurance card; there’s no charge from Alamo if you want to do it this way. You will have to call your insurance company to make sure they will cover it though. Mine said in the event of an accident or something there would be a $500.00 deductible and that I would be responsible for paying Alamo a daily rental fee until the car was repaired (for every day the car is out of service). You definitely want to have some sort of coverage in case God-forbid something happens, otherwise you will be paying for that car. I find using my personal car insurance the best option.

I haven’t had any problems with Alamo (other than the guy taking the returns being kind of a jerk last time, but I overlooked it since it was four in the morning). They’re quite easy to deal with at the rental counter, very friendly, and they will get you taken care of pretty quickly. They’ve always been pleasant and helpful on the phone with me as well.

Check with your credit card issuer, a lot of them (BANK OF AM, DISCOVER) will provide free comp ins for using the card to book and pay for a rental.
