Ironically, I need help on some info regarding an 18 hr transit in Doha as well which happens on the return journey of the same ticket that I refer to this question. So I fly from London to Doha where my flight lands at 1935 hours and my next flight from there to Bangalore takes off at 2015, which gives me just 40 mins to jump from one plane to another ! Is this realistically possible ? I have bought insurance for the travel but IF IN CASE the connecting flight takes off before we land (say our London-Doha flight gets terribly late due to bad weather).., is it the airlines’ responsibility to put us on the next flight or do we need to buy our own ticket ?? Crazy situation, first time for me, please help! Thanks !
If you miss your flight, they will book you to the next flight free of charge because they are the ones that gave you the tight connection
Assuming you are flying the same airline Qatar, you should have enough time as the terminal they are in at Doha is not that big. If for some reason you miss your flight, the airline find a way to get you to Bangalore. Just go to the gate agent and tell them what happened.
I’ve got on an international connecting flight with only 30 mins.. It was meant to be an hour but the flight had a delay taking off cause the temperature was below -10.
I was flying with the same airline and I knew even if I had of missed my flight, they would of got me on a later one. I was fine though and I think you will be too.
If not, it is the airlines responsibility to put you on the next flight out, exactly like you said.
If you are flying with two seperate airlines, it is different but sounds like you are going the whole way through with the same airline so no need to worry.
You have two scenario here, if the connection flight made by the same airline of your flight London-Doha ( qatarairways for example) they will wait your plane for a limit of 15 min after that they will book for you on the next flight under their responsibility.
Second scenario if you are using two different airline , they will not wait you and you will be responsible for the delay.you will not loose your ticket but you must arrange for a new booking yourself.
It looks like you are taking QR018 to QR226? The minimum connection time (MCT) is 30 minutes.
So it is possible. But cutting it pretty close.
If different airlines, you had better phone QR and find out the MCT, and if needed (almost certainly you would) change your schedule.
If the airline causes you to misconnect then they are generally responsible to fix the problem. You should read their Conditions of Carriage though.
