I was involved in a accident this past Friday, a black car traveling the wrong way on a 1 way street t-boned into me. The air bags deployed causing me to lose control of the vehicle, thankfully I didn’t hit another vehicle. They had to rush me to the emergency room, and the police were left to clean up the mess.
I came out of the hospital with little injury (thank god), but now I need to get everything sorted out. The lead investigator was unable to obtain the insurance information on the vehicle. It seems that the person driving was not the owner, but a hired driver (who was under the influence) by the owners grandson. The grandsons licence was suspended for DUI. All attempts by the police to contact the owner have failed, because the grandson keeps intercepting the calls. Now I know eventually the police will get in contact with the owner, but in the mean time I’m left stranded without a vehicle. The police told me I could try and obtain the insurance information myself.
I tried finding the owners phone number but was unsucessfull in doing so. Is there anyone I can call or a website I can go to that will help me find the insurance company that covers the other owner?
I already called the PA DMV and the told me I could fill out a form and pay 5$ to find out, but that will take 10 days and they will mail it to me. Is there a faster way?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, Thank You in advance!!
If the other driver refuses to provide you with their insurance information, contact your own insurance company. Give your insurance company a copy of the accident report. Your copy of the accident report may also have the other driver’s insurance company listed on the form. If not, your insurance company has the resources to track down the other driver’s insurance information so you can file your claim.
Your best bet is to obtain the police report, and contact the owner of the car from there. They should have provided all information on car including license plate, and go from there. Good Luck!
Call the FBI if your so desperate just go to fbi.gov
Pay the owner a personal visit.
No, there is no faster way. But it’s something you don’t need to worry about. Get a copy of the police report and go talk to your own insurance company, and let them sort things out for you.
Your insurance co. & the police should handle it, thats their job
